Hi all!

Happy new year!

I created sparks particles in Houdini. In Houdini, these particles are colored in the viewport and in the Mantra render. Their color and opacity change according to their age.

I used Houdini Engine to import in Maya.

In Maya, these particles are colored in the viewport.

But in the Arnold render it’s all white.

I put an Arnold Area Light and an “ai Standard Surface” material. With or without material, the particles stay white in the Arnold render view.

I also searched in the attribute editor but couldn’t find an option that could help.

What's the right settings to keep Houdini's colors?

What's the best Arnold material to render sparks?

Thanks,

Do you have an nParticle node in Maya?
Then you have to enter the names of the color and opacity attributes to the Export Attributes
Then you can use the user data shaders to get those values into your shading tree

Hello, thanks for you answer Stephen. I got it fixed by following this method:

https://www.sidefx.com/forum/topic/77245/

But I still have no luck with the opacity of the particles.

I have to ask on an Arnold forum.

Cheers,
