Rounded and soft-bevel seemed to have been the order of the day back then :)

Would it be a good idea to start a "Friday Flashback" thread to the

list and keep adding to that?

Cheers,

there countless of them.

Hi chaps,
I was just wondering if anyone would be able to help me out. There's some guys on XSI base who want a Win64 version of my Taut modelling operator, but I don't have access to a Win64 OS. Is there anyone out there who would be kind enough to have a look at doing a 64bit build for me?

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Hi,

Did anyone see/record the Autodesk Maya and Softimage Interoperability
webcast?

Any good? Worth hassling Autodesk for a downloadable version?

Thanks,

Adam.

Hi,

reply below:

Hi Adam

The webcast might appear online at some point but usually a US focused website and not the AREA.

There is something similar here on my AREA blog that might be useful to you:
http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/graham/ice_flow <https://webmail.vtr.co.uk/exchweb/bin/redir.asp?URL=http://area.autodesk.com/blogs/graham/ice_flow>

It's done in a simple way, but the basics and logic of the Maya <> Soft interop work just the same.
Any questions about this, just drop me a mail.

Thx,

Graham

Hi Graham,

A few people interested I think so have forwarded this to the list.

Not sure what the problem with just making it available is seeing as it was a worldwide webcast.
I'm sure a lot of people would just appreciate having it available to view.
To be honest I don't understand why these things aren't straight up on the site the next day.

Here's hoping.

Thanks,

Adam.

No problemo. :)

I know it can appear confusing about webcasts being broadcast and why there isn't video straight away, but I think it's mainly because there are different Autodesk sites that get hosted by different regions, for different purposes.

Although the webcast was 'global' it was (I believe) actually hosted on a US site with US links and contacts that Mark and Lee have used before, and I did see a lot of US resellers advertising it. Which is probably why it didn't appear on a more public site like the AREA, or that there hasn't been any recorded video yet. At present we don't have the same type of thing on the EMEA side yet, otherwise we probably would of repeated the webcast at a more EMEA friendly time. We did host an EMEA webcast last Oct with live chat, which worked very well, so we're hopefully looking to do more in the year ahead.

However as good as this is, these types of webcasts do require registration, which can be tedious to some. Which is where sites like the AREA and the new Maya, Max and Softimage YouTube channels come in. Previously some webcasts have remained 'On Demand' for registrants, but personally I'd rather just get it out there. And I'm sure Mark will find a way to get this particular video posted.

If anyone has any questions/queries, especially from EMEA, then drop me a mail.

Graham

Hi Graham,

while you guys are at it, theres this nifty video of Mark
caching an XSI ICE particle sim (a campfire) and pushing it
over to Maya. Part of an XSI demonstration, a webcast or
a release video. Cant remember, lost track of it.

It would be great to have that one linked as well.

Youre right, its tedious to log in, (ab)use DownloadHelper
or whatever to get to those videos scattered all over the place
or just get to know that a new video exists.

Cheers

tim
