Hey list,
in case you might encounter the problem that dotxsi import/exort doesn’t work *and* the missing path variable does not cause it (like described by the extremly helpful Stephen Blair https://xsisupport.com/2012/05/07/the-case-of-the-missing-dotxsi-dll-nt-or-libdotxsi-so-irix/ ), it can possibly be of another reason.
In my case the system env variable was correctly set to the path C:\Program Files\Common Files\Softimage and the file “Crosswalk_2015.0.64.dll” was there.
I now had this problem the second time and fixed it by repairing the Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable.
Windows Settings/Apps/Installed Apps/Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable -> Modify/Repair.
Started with repairing VC 2015, going backward. After repairing the 2013 version, the error was gone and crosswalk import/export worked again.
I don’t know what damaged the c++ package originally, though.
Just for future reference. Have a nice weekend all.
Cheers,
Sven
Addendum:
doing a bit more research and testing it was probably related to VBScript in windows in general. After repairing the VC++ Redistributable and dotxsi import/export worked fine, windows throwed a warning in the event viewer:
VBScript is scheduled for deprecation. Our telemetry indicates that your system is currently utilizing VBScript.
We strongly recommend identifying and migrating away from any VBScript dependencies at the earliest.
The following process has been detected as using VBScript. The associated process tree and call stack are provided below to assist in identifying the scenario in which VBScript was invoked.
ProcessName = "xsi.exe"
ProcessTree = "XSI.exe"
CallStack = vbscript.dll+0x6A0B6;vbscript.dll+0x566CF;vbscript.dll+0x40348;scripthost.dll+0xE7BA;scripthost.dll+0x11CC0;scripthost.dll+0x129F0;sicommands.dll+0x4EBE;scnmgr.dll+0x33DDC;scnmgr.dll+0x31BD1;XSI.exe+0x22BCA;XSI.exe+0x2C63E;sicommands.dll+0x3325;scnmgr.dll+0xF282;scnmgr.dll+0x40E12;dssdkco.dll+0x4553;dssdkco.dll+0x2CFC;XSI.exe+0x3E419;XSI.exe+0x3FF65;XSI.exe+0x406A5;XSI.exe+0x55775;XSI.exe+0x577FA;mfc110u.dll+0x27CF1A;XSI.exe+0xB2708E;XSI.exe+0x58879;KERNEL32.DLL+0x2E8D7;ntdll.dll+0x8C40C"
ProcessTreeEnhanced = "XSI.exe("<path>\Program <path>\Softimage 2015 <path>\XSI.exe"")"
Currently, VB script is supported in Windows but will be removed by Microsoft after 2027,according to here:
Not urgent. We will see.
