I’m losing access to my textures in Softimage. The external files manager reports all files on this server as “redlined”. From the script editor I frequently get the following error :

// INFO : 4000 - Share '\\servername\drivename' marked as invalid for the next 300 seconds

If I wait long enough and refresh from the EFM, the redlines will go away and the textures will render again.

I can access the server,  the drive, and the files on the drive, through Windows. Anyone have an idea what gives here? Why the 5 minute wait?

Just guess.... some drives (WD drives for one) go to
"sleep" (spin down) when not in use. Some drives
have the ability to switch that "feature" off....some don't

Yeah, I can think of numerous reasons why there might be a network delay. That isn't the question. The question is...why is Soft putting a 5 minute freeze on the process of reacquiring the asset? At least that's the way it looks.
