did softimage xsi ever went opensource ?
we've been waiting for long...

too bad, that could have happen : 
there is an opensource softimage::toonz... 
Maybe because the creation studio centered on it has a great reputation and had the legitimity to request opening the source...

2° L'artiste dramatique ;

3° L'artiste chorégraphique ;

4° L'artiste de variétés ;

5° Le musicien ;

7° L'artiste de complément ;

8° Le chef d'orchestre ;

9° L'arrangeur-orchestrateur ;

10° Le metteur en scène, le réalisateur et le chorégraphe, pour l'exécution matérielle de leur conception artistique ;

11° L'artiste de cirque ;

12° Le marionnettiste ;

13° Les personnes dont l'activité est reconnue comme un métier d'artiste-interprète par les conventions collectives du spectacle vivant étendues.

Ne sont pas considérés comme artistes du spectacle  : développeurs c++, créateurs image son lumière, régisseurs généraux, peintres, directeurs de la photographie, superviseurs d'effet spéciaux, maçon, homme au foyer. Cela entrainera donc la radiation systématique du régime des intermittents du spectacle.

XSI and Toonz are not cut from the same cloth.  XSI was developed entirely by Softimage.  Softimage licensed Toonz from a 3rd party developer.

XSI will not be open source because a good chunk of it's code has been integrated into other Autodesk products.  Making XSI open source would effectively be giving away trade secrets.

Personally, I would be interested in seeing Softimage|3D open sourced - mostly for historical value, but I think for similar reasons it will never happen.
