Hi,

I am trying to setup an DD-wrt or openwrt with alternative router and the FTTh service from xs4all.

But no success... It seems it doesn't like it at all.

Anyone tried/ had success to do it? Or anybody can help out how to do this thingy?

You need to configure the WAN side ethernet port as a 802.1q VLAN
trunk port. The internet connection is VLAN6. You then need
to run PPPoE on VLAN6 to get connected- you do need to authenticate
(i.e. let PPP go through LCP auth), but any random username and
password will do.

Google keywords are "openwrt pppoe vlan".

I've done it but nothing is working, it doesn't get ip etc.... :| do you have alternative router or not? and if which one? (openwrt is not working with RT-N66U, yet)

And the dd-wrt overights the options.pppoe file every few seconds so you cannot make it happen through ssh. :|

Is there solution to bridge the lan1 port of fritzbox to the lan2 so i can do pppoe without vlan tagging ? 9or something similar?)

I've never worked with openwrt or dd-wrt, so I have no clue as to
configuring them. I can only help you by giving you the correct
settings in general, like I did.

The fritzbox can't do that, that is, you cannot configure stuff
like that through the webinterface.

If you're feeling adventurous and are used to voiding the warranty
of all your gadgets anyway, you could try editting the Fritz config
with the FBEditor:

(never tried it myself though)

This page describes how this can be done with dd-wrt:

http://www.hermanvandrie.nl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=10%3Awrt54gs&catid=4%3Akpn-glasvezel&Itemid=15&lang=en

It's an old posting, but i'm sure the basics are the same. The post is
about a KPN line, which is very similar to the XS4ALL setup, except
from step 3 and 4, username and password are not relevant,
anything works.

Oh, and you don't need the mac address cloning either.

Thank you both for the info.
the Config editor of the Fritzbox cannot void the warranty as it is editing an linux based config (i read the config of the fritz.box! and it is do-able

Voiding warranties are not for this topic. :)

@Timo: i tried to do it, but now i am going to try the trunking method and we will see ;)
@both of you: thank you for the info. If you do not speak dutch it is tough to find your way...
