The Lazord Fellowship
The John D. Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement is pleased to announce “Lazord Fellowship” (formally known as Lead On Fellowship) for 2013-2014, a program that provides job opportunities in well-established nonprofits and socially engaged organizations. We would like to invite fresh graduates from all background, who are interested in pursuing their career in the civil society, to apply for this one year paid fellowship.
The purpose of the Lazord Fellowship is to provide mentoring and enriched educational opportunities to its fellows to help them develop a critical understanding of the nonprofit world and progress their leadership skills for their future careers, regardless of the sector. We have been offering this fellowship since 2010. The fellowship exists also in Jordan and will be expanded to Lebanon.
This one-year fellowship is designed to further development of young civically engaged youth. Successful applicants will gain further knowledge and become actively engage in the civil society/public sector. Moreover, it will add to their ability of critically analyzing nonprofits and personal growth.
We remain inspired by the vision of our applicants and their dreams for better community.
Eligible applicants:
Education :
o For AUC graduates: graduates of LEAD and PSSF , or need based scholarship granted for at least 2 years
o For private university graduates: need based scholarship granted for at least 2 years
o For public Egyptian universities : Open to all graduates from any branch
Graduation year :
o Graduates of 2011 till the present
Previous experience of civic engagement activities
Ready to commit to a one year full- time fellowship starting September 2013
Responsibilities
Adhere to the Lazord fellowship and the host organization’s rules and regulations
One year commitment to the fellowship
Follow the fellowship regulations of reporting and trainings attendance
Attend Gerhart Center trainings, and events
Provide case study by the end of the fellowship
Benefits
Recipients will receive 2500LE/month living stipend
Modest housing stipend (Based on the fellows placement and needs)
Fellows will receive two weeks of orientation at the beginning of their Fellowship
Fellows will be enrolled in the Lazord Foundation training program and join the regional network of Lazord fellows

First round of interviews: July 9-13, 2013
Short listed candidates will be contacted: July 16, 2013
Selected candidates will be notified : July 25, 2013
Interviews with host organizations: July 30 - August 4, 2013
Placement and Orientation : August , 2013
Start of the fellowship : September 1, 2013
End of the fellowship : August 31, 2014
