Many thanks to Alex and Nina for coming this evening to
Noisebridge.net for our Linux Discussion group. I look forward to
seeing you on Monday here at noisebridge. Two applications I found are
written in python and write USB sticks as we will do.

* Fedora Live USB Creator
http://fedorahosted.org/liveusb-creator/
binary package liveusb-creator - The version in Fedora 13 is 3.9.2
I downloaded the source using yumdownloader --source from yum-utils package.
I believe the persistent storage option uses an overlay filesystem
which is an excellent feature. This seems quite a mature offering.

I did a little work and got this working under Ubuntu 10.04 using some
packages from the partner repositories.
sudo apt-get install python-urlgrabber python-qt4 python-qt4-dbus python-parted
downloaded the tarball and did the following:
sudo python setup.py build
sudo python setup.py install
sudo liveusb-creator <- it seems to work!

* Ubuntu Startup Disk Creator
launchpad entry: https://launchpad.net/usb-creator
source package usb-creator on Ubuntu.
binary package usb-creator-gtk - the version in Ubuntu 10.04 is 0.2.22
This one I have only seen write Ubuntu disks, not Fedora images.
