বন্ধু সকল,
মই কেইদিন আগতে 'কথনা ফুল'ৰ অসমীয়া প্রতিশব্দ জানিব বিচাৰিছিলোঁ। ওপৰৰ লিঙ্কটো চাওকচোন। এই ফুল অসমীয়াত কি নামেৰে জনা যায়? কথনা নে মল্লিকা?
'শব্দ'ত  Jasmine (http://www.xobdo.org/dic/index.php?w=jasmine&l=1 ) আৰু এই প্রজাতির কেইবাটাও ফুলৰ নাম আছে। কিন্তু 'Jasminum sambac' প্রজাতিৰ কোনো ফুলৰ কথা নাই। বাংলাত যাক 'বেলি' বুলি কোৱা হয়, অসমীয়াত সেয়ে 'কথনা' নেকি বাৰু?

Dear Kar,

Jasminum is not কথনা , it is Tabernaemontana divaricata and the spelling is কঠনা (pl. refer to this spelling in Xobdo). Jasminum is মল্লিকা or মালতী, which is also included in Xobdo.

Thank you. I can now indentify, It's বেলি in Bengali. The word is
spelled an 'কথনা' twice in the 12th chapter of the Novel FELANI. So,
I asked you. Is that variation is correct?

I think I have also found that alternate spelling in some literature. As it is a proper noun, it may be used.
