FAIL - Application at context path /xnat could not be started

Hi Community,

I'm new to xnet. I finally got all the components working (I guess) except when I try to deploy ROOT.war . tomcat 7 manager shows 

FAIL - Application at context path / could not be started

so I found I had CATALINA_OPTS="${CATALINA_OPTS} -Dxnat.home=/data/xnat/home"  missing in tomcat.conf.

After I added CATALINA_OPTS to tomcat.conf. my tomcat wouldn't start. status shows:

Mar 21 13:33:06 centos-2gb-sgp1-01 server[6706]: arguments used: start

Mar 21 13:33:06 centos-2gb-sgp1-01 server[6706]: Error: Could not find or load main class ${CATALINA_OPTS}

Mar 21 13:33:06 centos-2gb-sgp1-01 systemd[1]: tomcat.service: main process exited, code=exited, status=1/FAILURE

Mar 21 13:33:06 centos-2gb-sgp1-01 systemd[1]: Unit tomcat.service entered failed state.

Mar 21 13:33:06 centos-2gb-sgp1-01 systemd[1]: tomcat.service failed.
