Ubuntu 22.04.2, XNAT 1.8.7.x and the conflict with Java 8 (openjdk-8) and tomcat-9.

Is this still not possible under Ubuntu 22.04 LTS?

I tried today to get XNAT to start with the standard Ubuntu 22.04 LTS packages. The XNAT server starts properly but when you try to configure the web server for the first time using admin:admin, the webapp crashes with this Java 8/tomcat-9 version problem - openjdk-8  conflicts with tomcat-9.

Brad,

I have a VM running with Ubuntu 22.04.2, openjdk-8-jdk-headless, and tomcat9. It’s as up-to-date as possible (having run apt full-upgrade or apt dist-upgrade just a bit ago). I’m able to run XNAT 1.8.7.1 on this VM without issue. I’ve attached the output from apt info for Java, Tomcat, and the Eclipse dependency for comparison.

Hi Rick,

Thank you.  I met you briefly at one of the XNAT courses held in St. Louis.

All the best to you.

Brad
