Hi,

I have an xnat and postfix running on the same server. As such the configuration I enter into the email settings for the smtp server are just localhost and the port number. This works to the extent that it can send emails. However the sent from field is set incorrectly to my personal email address. If I send an email from the command line of the ubuntu server using the "mail" command. I get the correct sender (the smtp server address). I can't find anywhere in the xnat config that the sender's email address can be set.

I'm hoping someone can give me some ideas of where xnat could be setting or getting this parameter from. Or is there somewhere I can override it?

thanks
Angel

Have you set the address in the site administration settings? Go to Administer -> Site Setup and look in the Admin Information panel.

Yes I have set it to the address it should be but this does not make a difference. At any rate the description of the site-admin email says that it's an address to receive system emails but nothing about a sender's address.

So I've figured it out finally. The admin email under Administer->Users is the one that is used as the sender's address. It would be nice to have this documented clearly in the xnat settings.

thanks

I will make a ticket for this so it does not get lost. We are working on documentation this summer, so this is a good reminder.
