Send DICOM from XNAT to an MRI

Hi, everyone

We want to send imagen files directly from XNAT to a petMR Siemens machine in order y perform RetroRecon and other kind of processes without carrying the imagen around on hard drives or similar. Kinda like a Query-retrieve between PACS and XNAT.

Has anyone has Experience with this kind of activity? Is that even posible iN XNAT?

Hi there,

That depends on what type of workflow you mean. If you mean that you want to go to a study in XNAT and CSTORE it to a scanner, then sure, you can do that with the DICOM query/retrieve plugin. If you want to, from a scanner or other DICOM AE, query XNAT for a study [C-FIND] and then issue a C-MOVE to request the study, XNAT isn't going to support that. There's quite a few technical barriers where doing so would be quite difficult. In summary, and more technically, XNAT will support C-STORE as an SCU with the DQR plugin, (along with C-FIND/C-MOVE as SCU), but it does not support C-FIND/C-MOVE as an SCP.
