Dear all,

I recently ran into a problem where XNAT wouldn't let me delete a session which seems to be "ill-defined".
This is a session created automatically by our own in house upload script that walks through our DICOM collections and upload using the service import API.
This session initially only had a single scan which is a non standard DICOM report format which is probably why it broke the session.
I was able to delete the scan.
However when tryin to delete the session using the delete function, I got "Failed to delete undefined". (see attached).
If I go the subject view, I can see this session, but there is no link to click into this session. The only way for me to get into this session is to search for its session label.

Is there any other way I can delete this session? Would deleting this session from certain database tables be safe (I do not need this session at all anymore).

Thank you!

Hello,

That looks like the same issue as this thread: https://groups.google.com/g/xnat_discussion/c/PUwk9Dk8_gw  . The best way would be to find the data type of the session and go through the steps I listed there. If that fails, another workaround would be:
  1. Go to the subject page for this problem session.
  2. Download the XML for the subject.
  3. Edit the XML by removing the problem session from the experiments section.
  4. Reupload the XML via Upload > XML.
Thanks,
Charlie

Thank you Charlie. Adding the data type for that session did indeed fix the problem for me! Cheers.
