Hi Everyone,

We are having a difficult time understanding where you configure SMTP server settings.

Could someone guide me to which file we supply the SMTP settings (Ubuntu), and do we need to relaunch tomcat for settings to take effect?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

The actual values are set in the file services.properties, which is located in the WEB-INF/conf folder of your deployed web application (which will be in /var/lib/tomcat[6|7]/webapps/xnat). Those properties are used in the mail-services-config.xml, but, as long as you have a standard SMTP set up, you shouldn’t have to mess with that file.

The exception is if you’re using gmail or some other ssl/tls-secured server, in which case you have to configure the encryption attributes. There’s a configuration file named mail-services-config.smtps.sample.xml in your xnat_builder folder under plugin-resources/conf. You can basically copy this file over your mail-services-config.xml, set the username and password in your services.properties, and restart Tomcat.
