Hi group

We are planning to use XNAT as a repository for different kinds of data during gathering from various systems.
Some will use the normal Q/R of DICOM images, others will be data gathered via scripts from other sources, Labka etc.

What we would like, is a file structure under the XNAT archive having the following hierarchy:
PROJECT - SUBJECT - SESSION - SCAN
since we need the SUBJECT level for other data storage as well.

In XNAT, the SUBJECT is not a level in the file system - only in the database.
Filesystem looks like this:
PROJECT/"arc001"/SESSION/SCAN
with "arc001" being a fixed level, for instance:

/data/xnat/archive/proj1/arc001/session1/scan1.

I would like "arc001" replaced with my subject.

Can it be configured somehow to change the hierarchy and to include your subject level as well in the filesystem ?

Thank you very much.

Hi, Martin,

Customizing XNAT's archive structure on the filesystem is not currently possible. However, you can request that the subject label be included in downloads via the Download Images page (check box to include subject in file paths), or via the REST API by passing "subjectIncludedInPath=true" as a query parameter (see https://wiki.xnat.org/display/XAPI/How+To+Download+Files+via+the+XNAT+REST+API).

Best,
Kate

Thank you Kate,
I will look into those options, but that will only help me for downloads, right ? Not DICOM transfers.

Best regards
Martin
