unable to delete imaging sessions

XNAT community,

I'm having a problem that I've never seen before.  I'm unable to delete imaging sessions using the data API or the XNAT web GUI.  The api calls return a 200, and appears to have worked, including log entries.  And the files associated with the session are removed from the disk archive.  However the sessions remain.  

In the History section of the web interface, it shows "Removed PET session" for an API deletion and "Deleted" for a web deletion, yet, obviously, the session can still be accessed via the web.  See the attached screenshot.  

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on and how I can solve this problem?  

XNAT version 1.8.10.1, Tomcat 9, Postgres 12
