Theme development question

Been a while since I worked on theme. I can get local host to work but when I make any change to any of the JS files it is not recompiling. What am I missing?

I've had this happen before too. In my case I downloaded a fresh theme from uStore, unzipped, run npm install, and then restarted the local webserver and all was good.

I didn't have time to go back and investigate what was wrong in the old folder that prevented the auto recompile/refresh...

I had this issue too, but it was due to me updating to v14 of Node.js instead of using v12 as mentioned in the GitHub Wiki.

Downgrading from v14 to v12 didn't remove something (neither I nor XMPie support could figure out what it was) that was installed at the OS level, and the only thing that allowed it to work was a full reinstall of the OS. After that installing v12 worked and everything has been all set since then.

Just adding this as a cautionary tale for others. When they say v12, it doesn't mean v12 and up. I missed the part that said "later versions aren't supported", either that or I was the reason it was added to the GitHub Wiki page.

I downloaded theme and did install and started up server and have Node.js 12.18.3. Still no changes or rebuild when make changes.
