From an efficiency standpoint, the goal is to upload the document specific font(s) to uProduce into the campaign just like any other fonts. I don't like the idea of turning on TypeKit on the server because the font list will grow over time. Eventually, there will be hundreds (or thousands) of rarely used fonts being activated every time a new InDesign file is launched. Enabling TypeKit on the server is similar to manually loading all fonts into the Windows System folder.
"Save to Server" and "Export CPKG" are the officially supported methods and I always use those approaches as the first and second plan of attack.
Every now and again, I have to load TypeKit fonts which won't export and I need an unofficial way to upload the fonts.
The current implementation of Adobe TypeKit places the files in one of these folders:
- Mac: /Users/<your user name>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CoreSync/plugins/livetype/.r
- Windows: C:\Users\<your user name>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CoreSync\plugins\livetype\r
If you don't see any files, then they might be "hidden". You might need to choose to show hidden files.
Just copy the files to a new folder. Add ".otf" to the end and open the file to view the Font Name. Lastly, rename the files to match the Font Name before uploading to uProduce.
