Hello, I know its a basic topic but having a bit difficulty.

I assume adding GA code into ustore would give us analytics on the legacy portion of ustore since its within the iframe and the theme doesnt really have access into it. Which is why we shouldnt add it into the ng theme in the headsea.js file.

Which then leads me to next question on whether we need to use the HTML file method for verification. Do we just upload the verification file anywhere within the theme folder..and reference the filename in ustoreadmin. Or is there a specific folder location the html file needs to be in?

Im waiting for my administrator to send me the verification file and so far just entered the track code but it seems its not in the actual code when i view source on browser. Hopefully ustore needs step 1 (property verification) done before it can add the code in.

Hi,
For anyone having trouble with this feature, let me explain what is needed for enabling google analytics on NG stores:

before you can start tracking you need to verify that the URL is yours, without it google will not provide analytics for your site.

so, first step, you need to verify site property:
on regular sites you will be required to place a file on the root of your site (or by other means), but since uStore root folder is virtual, you cannot do it.
this is why we provided a different way - instead of uploading the file to the root folder, you only need to get the file's NAME.
The name of the file includes a unique ID that connects your account on Google to the site.
when you provide us with the NAME of the file (top textbox), we will generate the file ourselves, and will "virtually" place it in the location that Google expects it to be (not going into too much technical details how).

when you accomplish this step, you've verified to google that the site is indeed yours.

now the only thing left is to supply the GA javascript code which includes the "UA-XXXX-Y" tracking code that will be used to send 'page views' to google analytics.

Congratulations, you're Done !

This approach will track views on BOTH NG and Legacy pages, no other actions required.

Good Luck

Thank you Snir!

This was a great write up, you covered my questions and helped simplify how the process works with xmpie.

I wasn't able to get html upload file from google; it only gives me the txt record to add CNAME to the domain. So I think I need to verify the domain first then it will give me that option. Will keep you posted.

Thanks again.

Hello!
Have you ever noticed the (not set) value instead of the actual value in Google Analytics? The (not set) value means that Google Analytics doesn’t have data on this value or can’t interpret it. You have numbers, but it’s not clear what they mean and how you can use them in your data analysis.   https://www.owox.com/blog/use-cases/not-set-in-google-analytics/

Hi,

Anyone managed to get it to work for GA-4? The tracking code is different and does not begin with "UA" so when I put in the code it does not apply to the site.
I did however manage to get it working with the old Google analytics.

If you are determined to use this before it is implemented by XMPie, then I suggest that you build the code into a custom theme using https://www.npmjs.com/package/ga-4-react

Bearing in mind that you may need to do more work later when XMPie provides an easier way to do it.

There is also some other public advice about GA4 - for example: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/64623059/google-analytics-4-with-react
