QR code generation through google apps

I have a datasource with url links to QR codes created in a Google Sheets. Can these links be used to generate the QR codes in uProduce or do I need the image files stored locally?

In uCreate Print (in InDesign) or in uPlan,  create a new graphic content object.

Select the XMPbarcode() function.

Select the QRCode barcode type

Select the database field that has the URL.

Save.

Print.

Done.
