Hey Everyone, I have a cunundrum, and I'm wondering if someone has
some input or advice that could help.

First, We are using uProduce 4.6.2 with uStore 3.6.

We have a client who has documents they want available in uStore for
users to customize. These are fliers. They want a single text ADOR/
Campaign Dial. However, they want to be able to use either paragraphs
of text in that dia/ADOR or bulleted text, and they want it to format
correctly in the InDesign document (with appropriate hanging indents,
etc.).

Well, unless I've missed something, that won't work with a regular
multiline text dial in uStore. Correct? The indents for the bullets
get all messed up if you want to mix regular text with bulleted text
(it sure would be nice to be able to control/tag/assign paragraph
styles like we can character styles, that would go a long way to
making this easier - hint, hint to the XMPie folks).

Anyway, I have found that this can be accomplished with the Rich Text
Editor available in uStore. When mixed paragraphs and bullets are
entered through the Rich Text Editor, they actually carry the
formatting correctly into the InDesign document. Yay!

However, this creates it's own problem. The Rich Text Editor allows
users to change text colors (and sizes for that matter). The client
absolutely does not want that to happen (users must stay within brand
standard design parameters).

Anyone know if there there a way to customize the Rich Text Editor in
uStore so that I can eliminate the color choice as an option?

Could we use the generic HTML dial control and use a different Rich
Text Editor for which the controls are configurable (I think yahoo
offers one...)

Is there some way to accomplish my bullets/paragraphs combination?

Any suggestions, thoughts or guidance will be most appreciated.

I am afraid that the various editors available on the Web will mostly
generate HTML code, while the uStore Rich Text Editor uses uEdit, in a
special mode aimed at generating portions of XLIM code, which will be
used during the composition of the InDesign document.

uEdit behavior is handled through a series of FlashVars, but according
to the latest uEdit Programmer's Guide I have got (version 2.0 dated
June 2008), none of them would allow to specifically show/hide the
color tool. :-(

Let's wait for the experts input...

There is a new thing that allow to write your own GUI for uEdit , that
will allow to hide expose different options of the editor.
Unfortunately this will not only require to know how to write such
things and learn how to comunicate with uEdit it will alos require to
write new uStore Dial Control .
So if you have .Net programmers you can do it internally if not you
need to contact XMPie , and they may recommend you integrator.

uStore has Rich Text Editor dial control but we are not able to put bullet points for text in this RTF dial control.
Required to write new uStore Rich Text Editor dial control with your specific features.

Mahesh.

Igor, we have access to .Net programming resources, so that's not a
problem for us. The question is where can we get documentation on the
control of the uEdit editor? Is this in the uStore SDK? Is there a
uEdit SDK? Somewhere else? Thanks for pointing me in the right
direction...

There is a uEdit SDK. It can be obtained from your local support representative.

Cheers, Tim

I didn't check latest uEdit SDK , so it may have new uEdit stripped
mode description , but I dont think it is there sicne it is relativly
new.
But as Tim wrote you need request uEdit SDK and uEdit Stripped Mode
SDK that may be already available or at betta stage , if it still
betta you'll have to sign up for betta program. Plus as well you need
uStore Plug-in Base SDK , that is usually part of the installation
folder with documentation of the uStore.
