Hi,

I am trying to create a Indesign document/PDF that will have clickable web addresses in them.

The trouble is some of them will not be in the usual format i.e. www.company.com/webpage.

They will be company.com/webage i.e. missing the www. This is specifically what the client wants the webpage to be.

Is it possible to make this clickable without the use of adding HTTP or the WWW etc, maybe using XML or something like that - not sure?

I tried using the Link ADOR but that doesn't seem to show up in InDesign when pulling in the uPlan file.

Also, the web address is an ADOR being pulled in from a SQL table as it is used in several places so it can be updated once.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks
Jon

Meant to add that I'm using uPlan 7.2.1 and InDesign CC2014

Today, the print output created by XMPie products is designed for print and not interactive content.
By the grace of the PDF viewer, if the link in the document starts with http:// or www then the PDF viewer will automatically treat it as a link and add it automatically.

There is some talk of XMPie providing an "Interactive PDF" output type, but I cannot say how soon it will be available in a released product version.

I should add - if you have:
* A PersonalEffect server  with InDesign Server installed
* License to use the uProduce APIs, and
* The ability to write Adobe InDesign scripts, then:

You could use the technique outlined in this technote to create interactive pdf.
(The technote is about ePUB, but you could make a minor change to the InDesign script to export Interactive PDF)

Hi Jon

In your InDesign file create another text box with the full URL in and place directly behind the text box you want to become a hyperlink. If your link is on a white background, change the full URL text to white, so invisible. The full URL will be longer so you may want to reduce the font size to the same width as your visible hyperlink.

Hope that helps.

Rob
