Hello. My customer wants  a checkbox that could be added at checkout with something like "I can confirm the delivery address is easily accessible for couriers and can be left in a safe place unattended”. Can this be achieved?

Probably better suited to the Shipping Address Area - this is what I implemented.

However you can now add an "Order Comment" which adds a Text Input to the checkout process - this may be of help.

Hi Michelle,

As mentioned, it is possible to add a checkbox. It requires a bit of customizing i.e. with a JavaScript. But nothing overly complicated.

However, you may want to consider checking the terms of your shipping provider. Usually it is not your responsibility to ensure delivery and where and how the shipping provider should put the shipment. As they are usually responsible for the shipment, you should work with the provider on how to collect a recepients consent.
If you ship yourself, then of course it is up to you how you do this.

As Christoph mentioned shipping providers will handle  Authority To Leave differently.
However in my experience an "Authority To Leave" needs to be on the address therefore may require more than a bit of JavaScript.

Thank you.

We've had a few items sent back to us. The shipping provider says it wasn't accessible for what ever reason.

The manger wanted this wording to be used.

Or you may consider the "Checkout With Questions" Clearing Plugin that we developed for this kind of usage, with support of any combination of questions, including check boxes, text boxes, drop down menus, file upload or even finger-written (or mouse-written) signatures.

However, please note that - as any other uStore Clearing Plugin - it requires that
  • there isn't any other Clearing needed for the given order (per instance: Credit Card)
  • your products have pricing
You can test drive the feature in this demo store (by placing a "uPunchout" brochure order).

Great Plugin  west-digital.fr but aren't you trying to hammer in a nail with a sledgehammer :)
Also product pricing shouldn't affect your clearing plugin :)

Thanks Wayne! - in our Country, we would have said "crash a fly with a hammer"

Sure: the absence of product pricing should not affect (any) Clearing plugin; but that's unfortunately the way it is - a Feature Request was raised in June 2016; still waiting for a status :-|

Anyhow, as I wrote, we did not wake up in the middle of the night, to develop such a complex plugin, only for the benefit of a tiny checkbox: our plugin also supports text boxes (Regex- controlled), multi-line text boxes, (SQL query-based) drop down menus, file uploads and hand-written signatures. I just reset the demo store, to demonstrate a Regex-controlled text box and a SQL query-based dropdown menu, in addition to this amazing checkbox. In uStore Admin, the setup now looks like this:

As you know, the other advantage of such a server-side plugin is that, answers are captured and stored, so they could further be used in emails, XML, etc. Again, obviously, for a mandatory checkbox, it's a nonsense.

Cheers!
