Hey everyone,

I'm stuck. Heres whats going on.

Ive been using XMPie for a little over a year, but I have done very little with emails and email campaigns up to this point. Over the last few weeks I have gone through the online videos and the pretty extensive PURL tutorial. (Its very well put together in case anyones interested) I haven't run into too many problems and feel pretty good about where Im at for just getting started. My question is if I want to offer an email campaign as a product in uStore, how do I go about setting that up? Im not getting it.

When in uStore to set up a product, theres the option for email. Pick the account, the campaign, then the email activity. no sweat, but how do I get the test job ID and the send job ID? They are both -1, and have not been verified.

We have a client that is asking about sending small email blast via their store by uploading a list. Is this even possible?

Any help or direction is much appreciated.

It sounds like you're ok with creating the XM website and setting up the email document in Dreamweaver, so from there you just:
* use the xmpiedashboard to create an email activity to link your email document with a port and set the to/from/subject etc. (Note you must use a port and not a datasource at this point.)
* "test send" and "send" at least one email via the email activity dialog. This will give you the job ids you are looking for.
* then add the email product to uStore remembering to have the "recipient list" option checked so the end user can upload or select a range of recipients to send the email to.

Thanks couch,

Im not sure what Im doing wrong. I follow what your saying. I have tested and sent emails with success. When I "show tests" in uProduce they all send without error. When I go to add the email as a product its there, but I don't have any IDs. I set up another email activity, and carefully set it up and its not giving me IDs either. What the heck am I missing?!

1 thing to add, I am using my smtp server to send with. I have not signed up for a service yet. Im looking at the XMpie service and Xtarget.

I recently had this same issue - and I haven't figured out if something changed recently - but here is how I got it working:

* I created a new plan on my datasource in uPlan, and set the primary key to be the email field (since I figure that any uStore order for an email would at least have an email address field.)
* uploaded the plan and datasource to a uproduce campaign
* on the datasource area, adapt the data for web (again choosing the email for the url parameter).
* adapting the datasource for web does several things including creating additional fields in the database and changing the plan file. Therefore, after adapting for web, I uploaded my original plan again to remove the changes to the plan made by adapting for web.
* now go to RURL Wizard and create the site.
* now use Dreamweaver to create my email document in that website. Remember to set the page settings in Dreamweaver to email so it creates the email document in the uProduce dashboard.
* create the email activity in uProduce dashboard remembering to set the port (created by the rurl wizard) as the datasource for the email activity
* do both a "test send" and "send"
* then add the product to uStore making sure to turn on the "recipient list" option.
