You all have been so helpful with prior issues, I thought I'd ask you
guys this question. Today, I had a campaign uProduce that was linked
to a product in uStore. When a user whent to refresh his preview, the
job went to uProduce and never finished. It just kept processing. The
user pressed the button again, and this started a second job in
uProduce spinning. Because these two jobs never finished, other jobs
backed up behind them that were waiting.

I went and tried to abort the two offending jobs. Now, both say
"Aborting". Now, jobs are processing again, so it looks like the abort
worked, but they still say they are aborting. In addition, I couldn't
get any proofs to work on that document in uProduce. Other documents
proof fine, but I get an error when I go to proof this document that
says "parameter inTicket is missing\empty.".

So, I uploaded this campaign again in uProduce as a new campaign. It
works just find now.

So, I have a few questions:

1. If uProduce hangs up like this, what's the best way to restart it.
Restart the whole server? Restart uProduce alone (if so, how do I best
do that).

2. Any idea why a campaign in uproduce would go bad like this.

Any feedback or direction would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Patrick

You shouldn't have to reboot the uProduce server.

Here's what I would do:

1) Go into the XMPie Support portal. There's an article called "Jobs stuck in aborting status in uProduce" that has a downloadable VisualBasic script that'll take anything "Aborting" and change them to "Aborted." Copy it to the desktop of the uProduce box (fix the file extention first), then double-click it anytime that happens again.

2) After that's done, go into the Windows Task Manager on the uProduce box and kill the InDesign Server process. Production should restart immediately. InDesign can hang up after you use the VBS.

Patrick - I do know that there is a script in existence that you can
run that will change the state of an aborting job to aborted. The
script should be available as a download on the XMPie support portal.
If you search abort and dig around a little I am sure you can find
it.

Thanks to you both for your help...perhaps I should have checked XMPie
tech support first, but sometimes I'm a bit jaded on their "knowledge
base". I appreciate the help.
