What we need to be able to do is to send an email, then send that same email again later, filtering out all the people who opened the email (or failed delivery) with the exception of certain people who need to be included every time ("seeds"). XMPie Support suggests sending these people separately or in a different Touchpoint, but that defeats the purpose of what we are trying to do, which is to send the seeds the same exact message everyone else is getting, at the same time everyone else is getting it, and through the same way of sending as everyone else is receiving it. It is a way of testing the accuracy of the emails going out.

Is there a way to filter a list based on anything other than by an event? The only options shown in the Filtering in Circle are:

Email Sent

Email Failed

Email Failed Hard Bounce

Email Failed Soft Bounce

Email Opened

Email Link Clicked

Email Unsubscribed

Is there a way to add another category, like the value in a datafield or something? Or to change "Email Link Clicked" to the value in a field instead. That is what I think we need.

Or does anyone have another suggestion for how to accomplish this.

Please advise.

Thank you.

To do what you want, you really need an "OR" option when building the filter in Circle. Unfortunately, there is only the "AND" option, so it seems like another feature request...

One simple workaround could be to add your "seed" recipients to the datasource again after sending the first email and before sending the second email. This way, the second entry would not have been opened or failed. If the system think they are duplicates when you are adding them, use a different email address for the same person. - I like to use the gmail for this since it allows you to use a + and some other value in the email address and have it still go to the same gmail account - https://www.cs.rutgers.edu/~watrous/plus-signs-in-email-addresses.html

This is kind of weird. So I sent the campaign with just 6 email addresses and went to one of the email accounts and opened the message. Then I set the filter to Email Open Never Occurred. I resent the message with the filtered list, and it only sent 5 messages, not sending one to the address that opened it. So far, so good.

Then I went into the Library to the Master List > Tools > Recipient Table > Records > Add, and uploaded the address again of the one I had opened. Then I sent the message again using the filtered list. Now it sent a message to the new address I uploaded and also to the address which had previously been filtered out.

I looked in Marketing Console and even though the email address is the same they are shown with two different recipient IDs, so why would the original recipient suddenly become not filtered. Their status should still be "Opened".

I cannot use a different email address for the same person because the person is our client and they are a donkey's rear.

Any ideas?

I appreciate any help.

Thank you.
