New issue 10 by wesley.e...@gmail.com: plugin for alternate XML editor
http://code.google.com/p/xml2rfc-xxe/issues/detail?id=10

Enhancement:

XMLMind has changed their licensing scheme, and there is no longer a
personal free edition. As of version 5.4.0, it is now a time-limited (30
days) evaluation edition and the paid professional edition. For this
reason, it may be time to evaluate alternative XML editors for this plugin.
I don't know if there are any good open-source alternatives to XMLmind for
XML editing.

I'm wondering if Vex (http://www.eclipse.org/vex/) might be a useful
alternative to XMLMind?

Alternatively, does anyone have pointers to Win/Mac/Linux version 5.3.0 or
earlier of XMLMind where the personal edition still existed without an eval
period?

Possibly. I have used Oxygen before, and others.

The question I would have is the relationship to the <?rfc ... > pragmas. They are not intrinsic to XML, and I doubt are in the DTD. Have you tried it?

One other alternative is Nico Wiliam's lyx2rfc tool:
lyx2rfc.org/lyx2rfc/files/lyx2rfc-user-guide.html

Alternatively I have an archive of a suitable old version of XMLmind.

I've found a pointer to the archive for XMLmind 5.3 that still includes the
personal (free) edition. It is available here:
http://www.xmlmind.com/archive/xmleditor/5.3.0/
