For some years I've been using the XMLMind XML Editor (XXE) with Bill's xml2rfc-xxe addin.

I've just installed the Evaluation Edition of XXE 5.5.0 on a different laptop over an existing jre (build 1.6.0_07-b06) over Windows 7, 64 bit. I'm running the xml2rfc-xxe addin v0.8.0 (which requires v5+ XXE).

It all seems to be working fine except, with the cursor placed in the middle of some regular text (within a <t></t>), the BACKSPACE key doesn't delete text left, and the DELETE key doesn't delete text right. Pretty basic stuff.

The problem only arises if the cursor is just a vertical line with nothing selected.
If I select some text (pink selection), DELETE or BACKSPACE will delete it.
Within an artwork or a different element like a section heading or an anchor name, DELETE and BACKSPACE do delete text forward and back as expected.

I notice in the XXE v5.5.0 release notes that "Pressing DELETE or BACKSPACE may now be used to delete an empty text node... etc etc" Perhaps in fixing these more esoteric uses of these keys their basic functions of deleting text backwards and forwards have been broken when working through the xml2rfc-xxe addin?

To get the java console, I've started XXE via jave.exe rather than javaw.exe, but I see no error messages.

xmledito...@xmlmind.com has so far not been able to provide any clues.
