I've just finished upgrading news.xmission.com & newsfeeds.xmission.com. This
upgrade brings longer retention, faster speed, security fixes, software
updates, and IPv6. I will also be adding SSL NNTP shortly.
Although I tried my best to sync the new server with the old, you may need to
reset your article counts in some groups.

using off-network auth, you should most definitely be using SSL (port
563) as your login/password is otherwise transmitted in the clear.
