Broadband out west (Herriman, Eagle Mountain)

Does anyone know how easy it is to get broadband Internet service (other
than satellite, which doesn't work well with VPNs) in sparsely populated
neighborhoods in the west of Salt Lake Valley and Utah Valley?

After 12 years living out of state, I've returned to Utah. I'm looking
for a house with acreage where I can keep animals, which means that I
will probably be out somewhere like Herriman or Eagle Mountain (my new
job is in Lindon).

Some of those houses up the canyons west of Herriman look like they
might be hard to get out of right after it snows. I'll need a good VPN
connection to the office so I don't have to take a day off work when
snowed in.
