Hi,

With the free and pro version my map saves slow and I haven't filled
it with that much.
I believe this must be a known issue so is there a bug reported -
where can I find that!?

It doesn't feel professional to not being able to have autosave on to
be afraid of it freezing.

So if I could see and vote on it, and then wait for an update - that
would be great.

Regard,
Jim

Same problem here with rather large maps.

Pierre.

Hi Xmind Developers,

Same problem with me on my fast CPU and huge RAM computer. The Saving
takes longer than a reasonable user expectation. The screen looks like
it freezes. I think Xmind developers need to revamp the source code to
be more efficient in using RAM, use another deployment platform eg.
maybe C++, database. Just my two cents.

Thanks,
Alex

Ditto. Saving a large map takes FOREVER...

I used to autosave every 5 minutes; I've had to reluctantly cut this
back to every 20 minutes because saving takes so long.

Hi All

XMind file is a zip file. It zips every time you save it. I think this is the reason. BTW, if you have a big map, please try to separate them into multiple sheets. IMO, it will enhance the save speed.

Sincerely!

Stephen

I have separated larger nodes into different xmind maps and linked
them with ctrl+h to in the original map. Works. It's not the ideal
solution, but it does. I also increased the auto-save time to every 20
minutes. I hope I don't loose too much work once and again. BTW, I
have the impression that the recover function of Xmind works well. I
could recover my files the few times my computer has crashed.

Stephen, with storage space and bandwith not being a problem for me
anymore, I would like to be able to disable the compression option in
the files, if this gives me better performance.

Cheers,
Fernando

Hi Stephen,

I am currently using freemind to manage rather large maps.

In the process of switching over to XMind, I found that if I just
import the large map and try to work with it
like I am used to in freemind, I experience performance issues. It
seems that the map graph display does
not scale well with the number of nodes (>1000 in my case).

On the other hand, with XMind I can break down my maps into manageable
parts and drill down the layers
to focus on the task at hand. If I do that, performance is acceptable
and my user experience is better than with freemind.

Saving was never an issue for me. It just takes a second or two.

Regards,

Holger

Hi Holger

While you import the big (>1,000 nodes), please collapse all branches in your Freemind. It will save some your time. Hope this can help you.
In fact, XMind is slower than freemind.

Sincerely!

Stephen
