Hi Sir

You can try to separate that big map to multiple sheets. As for xmind speed, you can try to disable the animation and shadow in the preferences.

Does anyone know if there is a mind mapping software out there capable of handling very large maps? Or is there any way to speed up XMIND? Is the pro version faster? I love X Mind but I am frustrated by its limits. Any help is much much appreciated!

Jan,
could you please publish an example of your task map? The issue interests me, and I would like to see how you structured your map (without your proper data).

Thanks.

I been using Xmind as an organizational software to allocate tasks to days of the week/secitons of my life. I use a different mind map for each week. Yesterday I came up with the idea of trying to unify my whole year on a mind map so all 52 weeks in a hierarchy to show the whole years goals broken down. However, when I created this file, It was way to slow to work functionally. I would imagine that computer programers and serious professionals would need much bigger maps than the one I made, so I dont understand how i have already reached the limits of XMinds capabilities. I am running on a 1 yr old mac running with an intel core i7.

Hi!

I got the same problem today. My way to work around is to disable the spell checking.
Now everything is ok and quite fast. :-)

Same problem here.
I'm using several sheets, revisions off, spell check off.
The maps within the sheets are not big.
I've reached some limit, I can't even open the map anymore.

Oh thanks, this seems to have helped me. I am using lots of notes in my maps and the lag seemed proportional to both the number of notes and how big they were.
