Sharing XMind plugins? import export to other format with XLS?

Here are a lot of questions about import and export. For example for
freemind exists different solutions for converting to and from other
formats (import, export). Some of them are based on XSL
Transformations.
On the other hand XMind format also based on XML. And it seams to be
possible to add plugins to XMind. But I have no idea of the concept
how to extend XMind with plugins. Is it possible only for developers
or also for users?
Is there a way to give the community a place where they can share
plugins, also for import from and export to other formats? Maybe there
is place but I did not found?
Or will this place be in competition to XMind Pro because some import,
export or other functions are part of the XMind Pro?
What is OpenSource and what isn't?
