I'm trying to right now - I'll let you know what kind of success I
have. I haven't been able to find any templates which makes tweaking
it just right a little harder.

while moving the floating topics, you can press the shift key. Then it will be not linked to any other topics.

I'd say that you won't be able to do this using inheritance, you'll have to use what xmind calls "relationships" and make all your nodes free. But then you'll have to position the nodes yourself, which can be painful as the thing grows.

Having that feature would be great, but I don't see it coming soon.

For this particular problem, I think that programs like gramps or vue would be better suited.

Cheers

I haven't been working with Xmind for long, but this strikes me as a real weakness.

They use the term "parent," but somehow can't have TWO parents producing one offspring (two topics having common subtopic, etc.)

Unless anyone can straighten me out on the matter.....bp

I can tell you its a pain, I can't add dependants to two names, it has to be linked to two...

Any help is appreciated.
