If XL2 were complete in just another couple of years that would be excellent!!!
But is it more likely that it would take another 15+ years?
Thinking about the effort involved and that it is an open-source project without
a commercial sponsor would it be possible to enlist the efforts of contributors
such is myself? I have been thinking about how this might be achieved most
efficiently and effectively and the only way I can think that it would work is
if you could map-out details of the components you have already designed but
not implemented which could be implemented by others under your guidance: do you
think this is a realistic proposal? The other thing that would be required is a
formalised and agreed feature-list but I don't think this would be a big problem
as it looks like you already have a pretty complete vision which would cover
most eventualities.
Best regards
Henry

Honestly, I don't know.

That sounds like a great idea. I think we should use the SourceForge tracker for this, see https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=browse&group_id=54212&atid=473034. It's not as good as something like Redmine, but it's a start.

Great, this looks like a sufficient interface for starters. Any implementation
details you can offer on the items would be much appreciated particularly for
those of us new to the language and code base.
Are you happy for this also to serve as a wish-list? We could add items and if
you are not convinced of their merit you could add comments to that effect or
even remove them if they are just clutter. Alternatively these discussions
could occur on this list before being committed to the tracker.
