XL is very much alive, although most of our energy these days is devoted to one of its applications, see
http://www.taodyne.com. The language itself is only advancing slowly, because there is so much else to do with Tao. That being said, don't hesitate to ask questions.
I've been told that there is an issue with the latest LLVM to build XLR. I need to look into it. Just be aware. If you have this issue, use LLVM 2.9 and everything should be peachy.
