A new version of LingTree is available.  LingTree is a tool that lets you easily describe a linguistic tree and produce a graphic image of it. You can use it for syntactic, morphological, and phonological tree diagrams.  See https://software.sil.org/lingtree/.  LingTree runs on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X.

This new version allows you to include abbreviations within a tree node.  You can set the font for abbreviations to use a small caps font.  When you open a tree description made by an earlier version of LingTree, the abbreviation font is set to the same values as that of the gloss font in that tree description.

The user documentation has been updated and now includes an index.

In addition, this version fixes some bugs:
  • Upon closing LingTree, if it asked if you want to save data, it did not save.
  • The splitter pane between the description and the tree diagram would creep upwards between invocations.
  • One could get a crash message if a tree description had an error and one tried to save the image as an SVG file.

Please write to lingtree...@sil.org with any questions.
