Subject: [XLBangCore2011] Pan-Soth India XLAlumni Summer Meet--May 19th, 2012
Hi Folks:
Great that all of us welcome the Pan-South idea. This is how it originated.
The journey to and from Jampot is tiring--so I asked why XL does not charter a plane from Cal for the homecoming?
Yet Fr. Abe--who is older than me, was, in Bangalore for the second time in 2 weeks. So I asked him how he copes with so much travelling and he said he loves to meet all the alumni. He then said that the dates of our Annual meets sometimes clash and so he finds it difficult to cover them all..
That's when I suggested we could have a Pan-South India meet.Prof Joe Phillip who was with us, volunteered the use of the XIME hostels and living quarters for outstation alumni who may need it. The B'lore alumni will throw open their homes to their batchmates.
Sridhar--VP, HR, from ITC then agreed to host the event at a discounted rate at the Windsor or Gardenia.
So that's how the
idea was born.(No-- Abhishek was not there)
Also the weather in Bangalore is pleasant in May, the Gulmohar, Jacaranda and Tabubia are in bloom and it will be good for all the Southy's to get together again and recall the train journeys through Madras,,Nellore, Vizag, Sambalpur etc with Jalebis and hot Singharas..
So lets shoot for 500 alumni getting together. We have upto 300 from Bangalore. You bring in 100 from Hyderabad--charter 2 buses if need be-- and we will get a 100 from Chennai/Kerala.
Warm regards to all of you.
