I've sent Ken Wagnitz an invitation to join the group as a manager...

-----------

Ken,

I've set up a new email group on Google Groups called XJ-Riders. I
have made you one of the moderators (called Managers).

I've also invited Rick Massey, Bill Hanna and Mike Oberle to be Managers.

The idea is that we'll attempt to get the active members of the Yahoo
XJ list to move to the Google Group. With several dedicated
moderators, the group shouldn't fall prey to the spammers like the XJ
list has. The list membership will also be moderated. There's been
some discussion so far in the group, so please log in and take a look.
Also, look at the management tools available to us.

Between the much cleaner (IMHO) Google interface, lack of crap tacked
on to every message and higher level of control, I think it will be a
better overall experience.

I'm going through a very busy time at work and haven't had a chance to
compose the all-important invitation to the rest of the group. I hope
to accomplish that in the next few days.

Anyhow, check it out and let me know what you think.

Hi gang.

I be here.

Can't promise to only post stuff related to bikes though. -In fact I
can definitely promise other things (but I'll keep them relatively
clean).

regards from down South and around a bit.
Ken.

Occasional, brief, family-safe off topic posts are OK. We want the
group to be fun, just not stray too far from the topic for too long.

Agreed?

By the way Ken, I picked you as a manager not only because you live in
a radically different time zone that the rest of us (so you can handle
issues that might crop up while the rest of us are in bed :-p), but
also because of your consistently helpful posts.

Well thank you for that vote of confidence Dean.
I'll sense from reactions whether I'm 'off topic' for too long, or outside 'family-safe'. That is
how democratic lists should work. Members either conform to the list norms or find themselves
ignored, or worse, expelled.

I'm having a bit of fun juggling two Google accounts at the same time. (I leave a gmail window
open all the time.) Google don't really allow for that, being cookie based, presumably in a
limited way.
If it becomes a problem, then I'll have to 'join' with my existing account, then let myself in
with the other, then... nup, I'm getting dizzy thinking about it.
But I'll manage.
(I run my emails in a more complex manner than most, but its very flexible.)

regards,
Radical (not really) Ken.
