Theusers will not notice any difference according to this: -64-bit-vs-32-bit-for-windows-is-64-bit-worth-installing/ . If you are keen to do it, put in on a departments PCs first and see how it goes. If no complaints roll it out.

As far as determining if an installation of Chrome is 32-bit or 64-bit: It has gotten much more difficult without some fairly customized scanners. There used to be a registry value that could be queried to determine the Chrome architecture but that vanished over a year ago. The Chrome team removed it around the same time that they highly encouraged the arch of Chrome to match the arch of the OS.

In order to improve stability, performance, and security, users who are currently on 32-bit version of Chrome, and 64-bit Windows with 4GB or more of memory and auto-update enabled will be automatically migrated to 64-bit Chrome during this update. 32-bit Chrome will still be available via the Chrome download page."

This happened with me as well. Confirm that you downloaded the correct installer (64bit). Then quit Chrome completely and restart it. Go to the settings menu (hamburger icon) > About Chrome (chrome://chrome/). Under the version number, there will be a message about an update and a button that says "Relaunch." Click on that button to update Chrome properly.

When you go on the page after this, the version number should say "Version 37.0.x (64-bit)". I believe this happens because Chrome doesn't really close itself and keeps running in the background, so a manual relaunch is required to make the switch.

Press win+i then when you got to the setting scroll down to the end of the page and after that click on information and you can see about the detail of your device if it's 64 bit I think it would be ok to download each you wanted to.

Considering the results of your relevance query is saying that there was a Chrome entry found in the 32-bit branch of the registry (and none found in the 64-bit branch), I would have to ask whether you are certain that 64-bit Chrome is installed on that device?

q: if (exists values "DisplayName" of keys whose (value "DisplayName" of it as string as lowercase contains "chrome") of key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" of x32 registry) then "32bit" else (if (exists values "DisplayName" of keys whose (value "DisplayName" of it as string as lowercase contains "chrome") of key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall" of native registry) then "64bit" else "not found")

However, Google has released a 64-bit version of Chrome (official release 8/27/2014), and on Windows 7 64-bit, the QuickTime installer does not seem to provide a plugin that is compatible with it. Do you know when there will be a 64-bit compatible QuickTime plugin?

Also unlikely to happen - ever. QT X Mavericks actually has no equivalent player/plug-in like found with the Players QT 7.x and QTPro 7.x. Further, new generation Browsers are completely plug-in & add-on free in favor of the new HTML5 standard which handles multimedia content its own way. [See 3 in - ]

Same problem here. All of a sudden, my instructor's quicktime tutorials no longer work in Chrome, and there's no plugin to even enable. I have been resisting Firefox (the college's preference), but it looks like I no longer have a choice.

No, you don't have to use a different browser I just took the old Chrome 38 ( 32 bit ) from my backup placed it in my HD instead of applications (leaving the 64 bit Chrome 39 in applications) and ran a link to the dock while removing the old 64 bit from the dock. You can run the updates disable installer found her, disable it with little snitch or whatever. _google_auto_updates.html

Tell that to Performance Horizon Group (PHG) which runs the iTunes Affiliates Program. Their iTunes Widget code is supposedly state-of-the art but it is now broken in Google Chrome. I will let you know how PHG responds to my support ticket.

My solution is only for people like myself who have to explain to users that Chrome 64 has lost function and can't be used. I have my own website and can't see my own real. It has NOTHING to do with quicktime or Apple and everything to do with Google.

Richard, it looks like your site is working fine for me and I am using the 64-bit Chrome. Did you change the page source code to use HTML5 or something? Or did you find some other fix? Otherwise I am finding that QTKirk's assertion that Chrome no longer supports the QT plugin to hold true. I understand the long-term goal, but it is painful in the short-term.

I just found out that if I disable Flip4Mac - Version: 3.3.0.6 in chrome://plugins, the warning "QuickTime Player is required to display some elements on this page" goes away. But the player remains nonfunctional.

I have noticed over the last week or so that square dashboard for PC with windows 10 has become very inconsistent loading tasks and menus. Some tasks are taking longer then they should, and eventually the desktop stops responding completely, for example after a drop down menu refuses to populate. This coincided with yet another cosmetic interface update to the Dashboard. Today I noticed that at idle the Dashboards tab in Chrome is using 1.1 GB of memory. This is a very large amount compared to other websites. Please pass this on to the appropriate team!

Today I have left the desktop unattended for about 3 hours, I just returned to my desk and it is now consuming 2.4GB of memory. Chrome is even warning of excessive memory usage. It seems the longer the dashboard stays open and unused the memory usage steadily climbs. Please share this with the appropriate team.

Hi... If you hold your pointer above the chrome tab at the top for the page it shows memory usage. I believe it is the dashboard because all other tabs work fine and only use a max of 200MB. The dashboard goes over 2 GB and it is caused from using the drop down menu when creating a new item. When you go to RECEIVE, and drop down the box it refuses to display anything and then chrome completely stops responding. All other tabs, which there are 3 work flawlessly and never use high memory.

Problem with high memory usage persists. What I have observed is the memory usage climbs and climbs as you use the dashboard more. For example when receiving an order, that is opening each item and receiving stock and then printing labels memory usage climbs continuously. Generally when I'm at the 12th item the usage exceeds 2 GB and then the dashboard stops responding with just a spinning circle. I must manually terminate and start Chrome over again. It appears that the dashboard is not returning the memory its using back to the system and just accumulating like crazy. This issue is not occurring on any other website that I use all day long. Has this issue been reported to engineering? @_Violet

Linux was the first to get a 64 bit version of Chrome followed by Mac. Windows was always third priority for Chrome developers and hence almost any windows user as of this writing should be on 32 bit chrome. Also the chrome website by default shows the 32 bit download link.

If you are newly installing chrome or want to upgrade from 32 bit to 64 bit, both involves installing the 64 bit version. If you already have the 32 bit version on your PC, chrome installer will overwrite the files and replace it with the 64 bit version.

To install, just visit this 64 bit chrome download link and click the download button. Run the downloaded installer and follow the instructions that comes up. You can verify the 64 bit installation by opening chrome and loading "chrome://chrome".
