中国西北包括陕西、甘肃、宁夏、青海、新疆五省区，面积占中国领土的三分之一。美国大华盛顿中国西北同乡会于1997年9月19日在马里兰州注册， 注册名称为"The Northwestern Chinese American Association of Greater Washington"，简称 NCAAGW。旨在促进侨胞联谊，是一个非盈利性、非政治性的组织。西北同乡会是华盛顿地区人气最旺、最为活跃、最负盛名的华人社团之一。
