Si potrebbe mettere:
File \"%s\" malformato: %s
  

penso che le virgolette angolari siano un risultato della config del pc di cri.
piuttosto, a me lascia da pensare il termine malformato.
non mi suona bene.
è usato anche dopo a proposito di una sezione contente evidentemente della formattazione non completa.
tuttavia non mi viene un termine migliore (deforme o sformato sono orrendi) e altrimenti bisognerebbe ricorrere a una perifrasi.
