great thread Xeno, nice to see how many people are 'in your court'
btw i was pondering what the source of peoples 'resistance' to getting
into rowing and i wanted your thoughts on the matter
i have friends that have ergs in thier gyms and even after i discuss
the benefits they seem not to 'bite':
the main reasons i see might be:
1. it's a machine and they lump ergs in with treadmills and
StairMasters and other machines that cost a lot and don't deliver a
full body exercise
2. they perceive the rowing machine as able to help their general
fitness but not meet all of their needs, especially if they are
looking for 'beach body' musculature without a true conditioning
component
3. it requires technique unlike a StairMaster, so they shy away
from it due to potential embarrassment (?)
what do you think?
