'Approaching the end of my 20s, with my birthday 6 months away, I
wanted to lose some weight and get fit - and as someone who rowed on
the water at University, using a rowing machine naturally seemed like
the best thing I could do. I'd bought gym memberships in the past, but
never got round to going regularly due to the hassle involved with
physically getting there, and then having to cope with the crowds of
people. So I rented a WaterRower rowing machine, for half the price
per month of going to the gym. If you've never rowed one before, it's
the closest thing to being on the water without actually getting your
feet wet.
After doing steady state increasing distance pieces for a few months
on most week nights, and losing 30 pounds, it was starting to get
pretty boring, and I couldn't think of how I could change it up to
actually do interval training or something else that would spice up
the row and keep me on target with my fitness - and I missed
exercising with someone else, as rowing on an erg is a solitary sort
of exercise. That's where Xeno and Row2Go came to the rescue! I
remembered that I had seen Xeno on YouTube, back from when I was
researching getting my own rowing machine, and he mentioned his site -
www.row2go.us. I checked it out and looked through what was offered
and instantly saw how amazingly positive he is in his videos, so I
thought - let's go for it! I'd already rediscovered my love of rowing
over the last few months, but I wanted to row with someone else, make
sure I was rowing right, and have some fun challenges to do - so I
joined that day.
Now that I've been rowing with Xeno for almost a month, I can't say
enough good things about it - it's awesome! Xeno is really encouraging
throughout, and there seems to be no limit to the different workout
routines he can come up with. Plus, rowing in your own home with an
Olympic rower rowing with you is just awesome in itself. Each day I
really looking forward to my next row, and on the weekend, I sometimes
actually do two of the 45 minute workouts because they really are fun
to do - which is very rare in the world of exercise. As I've been
saying to my friends - all you need to get fit and stay happy is a
WaterRower, a TV and a Xeno! And together they cost half a gym
membership. Awesome.'
Cheers!
