Offline dictionaries

Hi all,

Apologies if this is a stupid question, I am looking for a downloadable dictionary, preferably in something like XML format of English to other languages. I don't need anything more than a list of words from English to another language. I have searched for many, many hours online and have not been able to find such a list. I am writing an application for which I need to have single word translations, not sentences, ideally for many languages eventually. I think hosting the word DB myself rather than querying another translator repeatedly such as Google Translate would be preferable.

Please could you advise me if this project is able to provide me with such a list? Or if not this, then if you could suggest another repository that would be much appreciated!

I had a look on the Github site for this project, but aside from seeing a list of files I could not find any information on how to access a word list.

Hi, Matt,

I clearly understand that it's too late for my answer to be useful, but I just accidentally found your post yesterday.

The easiest way to get a prepared XDXF dictionary is to convert any other-format dictionary with the "makedict" tools. E.g. get stardict dictionary you like and convert. You are also able to change/fix it afterwards as it is a plain XML.
