Error: Can't open display: (null)

Hi, guys,

is xdotool still supported by this email?

I am running latest Yosemite, but constantly getting "Error: Can't open display: (null)".

Even example from http://www.semicomplete.com/projects/xdotool/#idp24160 don't work.

I have installed ruby, x-code + command line, but can't figure out why this doesn't work.

MacBook-Air:~ XXXXXX$ xdotool getmouselocation

Error: Can't open display: (null)

Segmentation fault: 11

Is XQuartz running? Do you have $DISPLAY set in your environment?

xdotool only works in X11 applications, so you can't control native Mac apps with it.

Hi Jordan,

Installed XQuartz and things seem started to work. Below i ran the same command and seem received mouse location.

Thanks for your help! Will play more with xdotool later.

Well, looks like XTEST issue doesn't really help in using the tool. Where i can enable this one?
