Hi,

HI,

Is that possible to populate a chart's data with xdocreports ?

What do you mean with chart data?

XDocReport supports dynamic image, so perhaps you can generate your chart with other Java API like JFreeChart, generates an image and include it in your report?

Regards Angelo

Thanks

Hi antonin,

I suggest you to attach a sample document (docx, xlsx?) with chart that you wish to manage.
XDocReport doesn't supports Chart but we can study that if it's possible to manage chart.

Hi angleo,

thanks for you quick reponse.

I cannot use a dynamic image because the charts must remain editable by the user.

A basic chart in a template with the possibility to edit its values would be perfect.

Thanks for you quick reply,

Those two files contain only one chart : one from ms office, and one from open office 3.

I have time to work on that issue till monday.

doc_with_chart_from_office_14_osx.docx
doc_with_chart_from_openoffice_3.odt

in the odt version, being able to generate dynamically <table:table-row> in Object\ 1/content.xml would do trick.

in the docx version, same for <c:ser> (?) in word/charts/chart1.xml

Antonin,

Thanks a lot to have attached your docx and odt and gave me some usefull information.
However I tell me if XDocReport can manage chart with MS Word or OpenOffice like it does with mergefield?

To create a chart you need :

1) to build a data table with C cols and R rows.
2) map cells with chart (like excel).
3) fill data table.

My first question is how to manage that with MS Word/OpenOffice to set freemaker list directive, interpolation?

I think the 3) is the more easy to manage (just generate dynamic rows), but it means that you can manage horizontal bar with Java context, but not dynamic bar.

So I tell me if XDocReport can manage chart?
