Hello Ning, this is an interesting idea.
We used to do something like this previously in Respect Network.
Let's discuss on Thursday's XDI2 call.

Markus,

Les wanted to have registry messages to be forwarded to another registry server.

I am wondering if the HttpTransport.java class can be extended for forwarding requests to another server after they were successfully executed locally.

Thanks,

Ning,

It looks like you're not able to attend today's XDI2 call, so here's some information on this topic..

At Respect Network, we had messages forwarded from a "registration service" to a "member graph service". We did this with the following component:
https://github.com/projectdanube/xdi2/wiki/ProxyContributor

This however will be removed and replaced with a more generic routing mechanism, which has some early information here:
https://github.com/projectdanube/xdi2/wiki/XDI-routing
https://github.com/projectdanube/xdi2/wiki/RoutingInterceptor

I also created an example server configuration that shows how a message would be forwarded to another server:
https://github.com/projectdanube/xdi2-example-advanced-server/tree/master/src/main/resources/xdi2/example/server/configured/routing

Let me know when/if you have time, I can give you a walkthrough/demo of this..

Markus
