Marketing at XMOS.
The discussion was very encouraging, and confirms that XMOS has been
considering the needs of the community from a very enlightened
standpoint.
I want to make clear that my position during that call was not
authoritative, but purely informal. Similarly, Jörg was not speaking
with any finality. This was an informal discussion.
I will refrain from restating XMOS position here -- it would be easy
to mis-state and cause confusion. Instead, Jörg has agreed to sign up
on this list and share his thoughts with the community.
There are questions to be addressed, of course, but the sentiment is
good.
All being well, we should hear more in the next 24 hours.

an informal discussion and quite some work lies ahead.
To clarify XMOS’ position, let me first confirm that we are well
aligned with the goals outlined by this group.
Second – we (XMOS) are looking forward to collaborate with and
contribute to the community of XMOS users.
We are supportive of the efforts of the Foundation and are looking
forward to help define a structure that supports the interests of all
stakeholders.
To provide a stable foundation for the growth and success of an open
source XMOS community, we suggest we focus initially on the following
topics:
* Foundation bylaws and framework for contributed code to provide
legal clarify to all members and contributors
* Repository
* Code contribution and submission guidelines, including definition of
mainline and code branch structures
* Bug reporting and testing requirements
While we should drive the discussion forward in a virtual environment,
it may make sense to get together face to face in the not too distant
future.
Looking forward to working with all of you.

Thank you for this very clear expression of your support. Taken together with David's message on the XCORE.COM forum thread, it seems that XMOS and the Foundation should be very much in tune with each other.

Same here.
At the moment thoughts in my household are turning to giving thanks in a traditional way. As I slice the turkey and say a few words tomorrow afternoon, the message that you and Dave have conveyed will certainly be in my mind.
